Head excavated, dull, granulate; frontal line complete; occipital carina absent; POL = 2; OL = 2; OOL = 10; greatest breadth of lateral ocelli about as long as OL. Palpal formula 5/3. Pronotum shiny, crossed by strong transverse impression, unsculptured, except many longitudinal striae on disc and lateral regions. Mesoscutum dull, sculptured by many longitudinal striae, laterally without two pointed apophyses (

. The species is named after Prof. Clarke Scholtz (University of Pretoria), beetle specialist, on whose farm, Kelkiewyn, one of the authors (SVN) collected the specimen. He kindly allowed SVN to run traps on the farm.
