arises from the mid-dorsal portion of the hyomandibula, preopercle, and simpletic; converging anteriorly to the buccopalatal membrane, where the anterodorsal portion differentiates into an endomaxilar ligament, equal to a half of the fibrous portion of the
<emphasis id="B90A3D30FFA0E479FC7955CC7567FCC5" box="[975,1051,1198,1222]" italics="true" pageId="65" pageNumber="66">malaris</emphasis>
, to an insertion at the posteromesial margin of the premaxilla; and the anteroventral fibers converges to the same membrane which, in turn, attaches to the dorsal and posterior margins of the maxilla (

originates in the hyomandibula, quadrate, metapterygoid, sphenotic, parasphenoid, pterosphenoid, and sympletic. At its origin, the
<emphasis id="B90A3D30FFA0E479FA86542174CFFD58" box="[1328,1459,1347,1371]" italics="true" pageId="65" pageNumber="66">ricto-stegalis</emphasis>
is a single mass of fibers, and partially differentiated towards their insertion sites. The fibers corresponding to the presumed
<emphasis id="B90A3D30FFA0E479FC3954EC72AFFDA5" box="[911,979,1422,1446]" italics="true" pageId="65" pageNumber="66">rictalis</emphasis>
inserts mainly into the posterior margin of the anguloarticular; and the presumed
<emphasis id="B90A3D30FFA0E479FC2854D17294FDC8" box="[926,1000,1459,1483]" italics="true" pageId="65" pageNumber="66">stegalis</emphasis>
converges into the meckelian tendon to an insertion to the coronomeckelian bone. The
<emphasis id="B90A3D30FFA0E479FBB654BB743FFDF3" box="[1024,1347,1496,1520]" italics="true" pageId="65" pageNumber="66">ramus mandibularis trigeminus</emphasis>
nerve lies mesial to the
<emphasis id="B90A3D30FFA0E479FDCA549D723CFE15" box="[636,832,1534,1558]" italics="true" pageId="65" pageNumber="66">segmentum facialis</emphasis>
.

has a trapezoidal shape, originating from the ventral margin of the frontal and sphenotic and inserting onto the hyomandibula. The origin of the
<emphasis id="B90A3D30FFA0E479FD0C57F172EAFEA8" box="[698,918,1683,1707]" italics="true" pageId="65" pageNumber="66">levator arcus palatini</emphasis>
corresponds to its insertion. At the insertion of the
<emphasis id="B90A3D30FFA0E479FDA557DA7391FED3" box="[531,749,1720,1744]" italics="true" pageId="65" pageNumber="66">levator arcus palatini</emphasis>
, all fibers are located laterally to the
<emphasis id="B90A3D30FFA0E479FB3857DA75A6FED3" box="[1166,1242,1720,1744]" italics="true" pageId="65" pageNumber="66">malaris</emphasis>
; and with only the posterodorsal fibers being mesial to the
<emphasis id="B90A3D30FFA0E479FC1C57BC7527FEF5" box="[938,1115,1758,1782]" italics="true" pageId="65" pageNumber="66">dilatator operculi</emphasis>
, where the anterior margin of the
<emphasis id="B90A3D30FFA0E479FDA4566173D2FF18" box="[530,686,1795,1819]" italics="true" pageId="65" pageNumber="66">dilator operculi</emphasis>
exceeds the median portion of the
<emphasis id="B90A3D30FFA0E479FB8F5661746DFF18" box="[1081,1297,1795,1819]" italics="true" pageId="65" pageNumber="66">levator arcus palatini</emphasis>
