With the exception of two specimens labeled from &quot;British Columbia&quot; and
<normalizedToken originalValue="“Victoria”">&quot;Victoria&quot;</normalizedToken>
on Vancouver Island (Noonan 1991: 70), this species occurs east of the Rocky Mountains from central Alberta to the Quebec City area (Larochelle 1975: 87, map 302), south to Massachusetts, northwestern Pennsylvania (Erie County, Robert L. Davidson pers. comm. 2012), southern Kansas, central New Mexico, and southeastern Arizona [see Noonan 1991: Fig. 271]. This species is much more abundant in the prairies of central North America and both Lindroth

1968: 779; 1971: 1456, 1457) and Noonan (1991: 69) concluded that the species was originally an inhabitant of the prairies that expanded its range eastwards after humans cut down forests in the east.
