Classified as Critically Endangered on The IUCN Red List. Deforestation, hunting, and captive animal trade are major conservation threats to the Blue-eyed Spotted Cuscus. Populations are thought to have declined by more than 80% in the last ten years due to deforestation on Biak-Supiori Island and from high levels of exploitation. Studies of Blue-eyed Spotted Cuscuses in the wild should be considered priorities for enabling effective conservation.
