Primary appendage consisting of a large, distally rounded basal cell, mostly occupied by the antheridium, a small suprabasal cell and a simple branch formed by a series of elongate cells, exceeding the perithecial apex about three times the thallial length from foot to perithecial apex.</paragraph>
