Diagnostic features Cell I differs strikingly from cells II, III and basal cell of primary appendage by being paler and narrower. Primary appendage consisting of a large, distally rounded basal cell, mostly occupied by the antheridium, a small suprabasal cell and a simple branch formed by a series of elongate cells, exceeding the perithecial apex about three times the thallial length from foot to perithecial apex.
