Dendy &amp; Row (1913) proposed the genus
<emphasis id="0894231FFF8FB27DF43BFEC7FF08A42F" box="[114,236,267,293]" italics="true" pageId="52" pageNumber="255">Kuarraphis</emphasis>
for a sponge described by Haeckel (1872) that is characterized by the presence of only needle-eye spicules. The sponge is encrusting, has a leuconoid organization without an atrium, and has irregular exhalant canals. Haeckel (1872) pointed out the similarity of the choanosome and the skeleton of this sponge with those described by him in the “subgenus
