is rounded and depressed (? from pressure), and with a slight ventral groove. The
<emphasis id="E2903E5FFFCDFFCB775C3CC2FB90FC14" box="[781,1045,910,948]" italics="true" pageId="92" pageNumber="227">mantle-opening</emphasis>
terminates immediately below and behind the eye. The
<emphasis id="E2903E5FFFCDFFCB77863CF5FBC0FC7F" box="[983,1093,953,991]" italics="true" pageId="92" pageNumber="227">siphon</emphasis>
extends as far as the umbrella-margin, and is acutely pointed.

The

is broader than the body and flattened by compression; the

are very prominent.

The

are unequal, the third pair being much the longest and stoutest; on the average they are four times as long as the body; they taper gradually at first and then more rapidly. The
<emphasis id="E2903E5FFFCDFFCB76563BA4FD1FFAAE" box="[519,666,1256,1294]" italics="true" pageId="92" pageNumber="227">umbrella</emphasis>
is very small. The
<emphasis id="E2903E5FFFCDFFCB704C3BA4FB1CFAAE" box="[1053,1177,1256,1294]" italics="true" pageId="92" pageNumber="227">suckers</emphasis>
are prominent, the first form being disposed in a single row, and none are enlarged on the lateral arms. The
<emphasis id="E2903E5FFFCDFFCB77BB3A72FB34FAC4" box="[1002,1201,1342,1380]" italics="true" pageId="92" pageNumber="227">hectocotylus</emphasis>
is not developed.

The

is smooth in general, but there are about twelve warts on the back and sides of the body and a large cirrus over each eye, with several small ones near it.
