No female specimens were available. The two smaller male
<typeStatus box="[1058,1171,1867,1891]" pageId="3" pageNumber="73">paratypes</typeStatus>
agree with the
<typeStatus box="[1372,1473,1866,1890]" pageId="3" pageNumber="73">holotype</typeStatus>
in most respects. The postorbital crista in these
<specimenCount pageId="3" pageNumber="73" type="generic">two specimens</specimenCount>
is almost contiguous with the crista connecting to the anterolateral margin, the structures appearing almost confluent. The small fissure separating the cristae is still visible but less pronounced.

The species is named after Nguyen Xuan Quynh from the

University of Science, who passed away in early 2022. He was the one who encouraged the first author to start studies on the aquatic fauna of

in the 1990s, and has been a good friend over the years. He will be sorely missed.
