Glucose, sucrose (variable), maltose, cellobiose, trehalose, melezitose, L-arabinose (variable), ethanol (variable), glycerol, ribitol (variable), D-mannitol (variable), D-glucitol (variable), salicin (variable) and DL-lactate (variable) are assimilated as sole carbon sources. Galactose, L-sorbose, lactose, melibiose, raffinose, inulin, soluble starch, D-xylose, D-arabinose, D-ribose, L-rhamnose, D-glucosamine, N-Acetyl-D-glucosamine, methanol, erythritol, galactitol, Methyl-α- D-glucoside, succinate, citrate, myo-inositol and hexadecane are not assimilated. Ammonium sulfate, potassium nitrate, L-lysine, ethylamine hydrochloride (weak) and cadaverine dihydrochloride (weak) are assimilated as sole nitrogen sources. Sodium nitrite is not assimilated. Maximum growth temperature is 2223 °C. Growth in vitamin-free medium is variable. Starch-like substances are not produced. Growth on 50 % (w/w) glucose-yeast extract agar is negative.
