The only species of this genus,

is known from Central Africa. However, a recent phylogeographic study has shown that the north-central and eastern Congolian population is relatively divergent (the estimated origin is dated to the Pliocene/Pleistocene boundary) and may represent a distinct species (

). Representatives of this genus deposit eggs into foam nests attached usually to branches above water (

). The foam is produced from a secretion during oviposition by beating the secretion by both females and males, sometimes including multiple males.
