The New Brunswick specimens of
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Laemophloeidae" genus="Placonotus" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Placonotus zimmermanni" order="Coleoptera" pageId="6" pageNumber="163" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="species" species="zimmermanni">Placonotus zimmermanni</taxonomicName>
were captured in Lindgren funnel traps deployed in a mature hardwood forest with American beech (
<taxonomicName class="Magnoliopsida" family="Fagaceae" genus="Fagus" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Plantae" lsidName="Fagus grandifolia" order="Fagales" pageId="6" pageNumber="163" phylum="Tracheophyta" rank="species" species="grandifolia">Fagus grandifolia</taxonomicName>
Ehrh.) and sugar maple and in an old silver maple swamp. Adults at the latter site were captured in traps in the forest canopy.
