Carapace ovoid in lateral view, convex in dorsal view. Greatest length of carapace passes through medial line. Shell surface smooth; right valve with acutely projecting anterior cardinal angle and concave anterodorsal slope. Hinge adont. Dorsal hump is a development of the anterior part of the hinge separate from the cardinal angle. Left valve slightly larger than right, almost equivalve.
