Small theridiid spiders. Carapace slightly longer than wide, highest behind eyes. Only six small eyes present. Posterior eye row slightly recurved as seen from above. Chelicerae strong with three large teeth on anterior margin, denticles on posterior margin. Sternum convex

truncate between posterior coxae. Legs short, first and fourth subequal
<sub pageId="10" pageNumber="114">;</sub>
third shortest. A small tubercle on retrolateral face of each patella A large tarsal comb on fourth tarsus. In only species known, abdomer heavily sclerotized, with sclerotized spots on dorsum of female, a scutum covering dorsum of male. Colulus large, bearing setae (Fig. 42). Leaver of lungs, usually square-shaped in theridiid spiders, are about six timei longer than wide in

Female genitalia with one pair of seminal receptacles. Palpus with paracymbial hook (

in Fig. 47) on side of cymbium (
<collectionCode>Y</collectionCode>
) and non¬ functional. Conductor (
<collectionCode>C</collectionCode>
) and two sclerites present. It is assumed thai one is the remains of the median apophysis (
<collectionCode>M</collectionCode>
); the other, the radi (
<collectionCode>R</collectionCode>
). Conductor supports tip of embolus.

The structure of the genitalia suggests a close relationship between
<taxonomicName class="Liliopsida" family="Poaceae" genus="Ctenium" kingdom="Plantae" order="Poales" pageId="10" pageNumber="114" phylum="Tracheophyta" rank="genus">Ctenium</taxonomicName>
and
<taxonomicName authority="Levi, 1957" authorityName="Levi" authorityYear="1957" class="Arachnida" family="Anapidae" genus="Archerius" higherTaxonomySource="GBIF" kingdom="Animalia" order="Araneae" pageId="10" pageNumber="114" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Archerius</taxonomicName>
. Archer his differs from
<taxonomicName class="Arachnida" family="Mysmenidae" genus="Mysmena" kingdom="Animalia" order="Araneae" pageId="10" pageNumber="114" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Mysmena</taxonomicName>
which also has

relatively large colulus, by having a more complex palpus, from

and
<taxonomicName authority="Bishop &amp; Crosby, 1926" authorityName="Bishop &amp; Crosby" authorityYear="1926" class="Arachnida" family="Theridiidae" genus="Paidisca" higherTaxonomySource="GBIF" kingdom="Animalia" order="Araneae" pageId="11" pageNumber="115" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Paidisca</taxonomicName>
by the large colulus, and from these genera as well as
<taxonomicName class="Liliopsida" family="Poaceae" genus="Ctenium" kingdom="Plantae" order="Poales" pageId="11" pageNumber="115" phylum="Tracheophyta" rank="genus">Ctenium</taxonomicName>
and most other theridiid genera, by having only six eyes.
