Dorsal side dark brown, with individual green metallic scales in the proximal half, though in occasional specimens these iridescent green scales can be far more extensive, reaching to the termen in extreme cases; under magnification the brown scales produce a gold to coppery reflection, giving the wing a satin appearance; ventral side grey brown with very few green metallic scales in the proximal section of the costa; fringe with a brown satin sheen.
