Prefers open grassy biotopes and, to a lesser extent, other habitats in agricultural areas; highest abundances, however, were recorded in a reed marsh and a marshland. In northwestern Europe, this species is very eurytopic and is found in a wide array of biotopes, with highest abundances in open, well-lit, rather dry grasslands.
