is a typical and rather common species in the late Burdigalian of New Zealand and Chile but has not been found in coeval sediments of the Caribbean (Trinidad or Venezuela). Its common occurrence in late Burdigalian to early Langhian sediments of Japan indicates that it may have had an antitropical distribution in the Pacific Ocean during the late early and early middle Miocene.
