the tip of the snout is contained 4^ times in the total length; that of the anal from the snout, 3J times. The vent is immediately in front of the anal. The length of the pectoral equals one half that of the head, or a little more. The distance of the ventral from the snout is contained 8-J times in the total length. The length of the ventral is scarcely more than that of the pupil. The interorbital space (on the skull) is about one fourth the length of the snout, which is about equal to that of the eye, which is contained times in the length of the head. The tubular nostril is much nearer the tip of the snout than to the eye. The scales are very small, present everywhere except 011 the head and the pectorals, extending almost out to the margin of the vertical fins. Dorsal (with half of caudal) 118 rays; anal (with half of caudal) 110. Pectoral 10, ventral 3. Color light brown, the head somewhat darker.
