from the Austroriparian ecological region of East Texas, where larvae occupied crevices on snags in moderate­sized, sandy­bottomed streams with dense riparian vegetation.

Study of the published

of this species showed them to be undissected and in good condition, with clear indications of which specimen was designated the
<typeStatus id="4F6F9BF8FFFBA741FEC0FA01FE044CF6" box="[379,485,1439,1465]" pageId="1" pageNumber="2" type="holotype">holotype</typeStatus>
, and which the
<typeStatus id="4F6F9BF8FFFBA741FD24FA01FCF24CF6" box="[671,787,1439,1465]" pageId="1" pageNumber="2" type="paratype">paratypes</typeStatus>
. In addition to the
<typeStatus id="4F6F9BF8FFFBA741FC4AFA01FBC54CF6" box="[1009,1060,1439,1465]" pageId="1" pageNumber="2">type</typeStatus>
series listed in the literature, a third vial from ANSP contained three larvae of

. Because these specimens were collected many years before the species description, have the same style of labels as the published

series, and have associated slides from which the original figures appeared to have been drawn, it appears that Allen intended to publish them as part of the
<typeStatus id="4F6F9BF8FFFBA741FBC7F9F9FB4E4FCE" box="[1148,1199,1639,1665]" pageId="1" pageNumber="2">type</typeStatus>
series but inadvertently did not include them in the original publication. As such, they should be considered valid
