considered the distribution and habitat of this species in the Nearctic region unusual for a Holarctic species because of the specialized habitat preferences (found in sphagnum and debris in marshes and bogs) and pattern of distribution (restricted to Ottawa Valley of Ontario and Quebec). He suggested that the species may have been overlooked by most collectors and may actually have a broader distribution in North America than the records indicate.
