Body oval, of moderate height, head and valves without a keel. Sculpture of valves as weakly developed longitudinal lines or tubercules. Posteroventral angle of valves without denticles. Rostrum short. Two main head pores with narrow connection between them, lateral head pores with small rounded cavities (cosmaria) under them. Labral keel of moderate width, with a rounded apex, without clusters of setulae on posterior margin, in some species, anterior margin of keel with a denticle or a setule.

<paragraph id="8BD4369DFFA5BB3A75CDFA32FF16F9B0" blockId="10.[151,1437,1239,1840]" pageId="10" pageNumber="461">Postabdomen short and wide, with convex postanal margin and broadly rounded distal angle, length about 2– 2.2 height in Asian species. Preanal angle well defined, postanal angle not defined. Postanal denticles short, in clusters. Postanal lateral groups of setulae with very long and thick distalmost seta, in distalmost groups length of setulae exceed two widths of base of postabdominal claw. Postabdominal claw short, curved, with short basal spine.</paragraph>
<paragraph id="8BD4369DFFA5BB3A75CDF981FCC5F940" blockId="10.[151,1437,1239,1840]" pageId="10" pageNumber="461">Antennule without lateral aesthetascs, all terminal aesthetascs of similar length. Antennal seta without basal peg. Antenna with thin seta on basal segment of endopodite. Spine on basal segment of exopod longer than middle segment. Spines on apical segments longer than apical segments. IDL of limb I with two setae, seta 1 absent, morphology of setae 2–3 varies from species to species.</paragraph>

. The diversity of the genus in the region is not yet fully appreciated, and there is probability that yet undescribed species are present in the region. In doubtful cases, use full descriptions of the species for comparison.
