Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, non-flagellated, rod-shaped bacterium (1.1-1.2 μm wide, 3.1-4.3 μm long). Colonies grown on marine agar are cream, lobate, rough, and opaque. Oxidase activity is negative. In the API 20NE test, cells are positive for assimilation of D- glucose, potassium gluconate, adipic acid, and malic acid, but negative for nitrate reduction; indole production; glucose fermentation; hydrolysis of aesculin and gelatin; activity of arginine dihydrolase, urease, and
