Colouration metallic blue, purple to green, wing without maculae (except for some Afrotropical species). Male with anterointernal ommatidia normally developed (except for some Afrotropical species, with strongly enlarged ommatidia). Female with proclinate fronto-orbital developed or not; parafrons setulose along its entire length; interfrontal seta absent. Dorsocentrals 0-2+2-4. Posthumeral developed or not; intrapostalar usually present. Prosternum setulose. Katepisternals 1+2 or 1+3 (rarely 0+1). Greater ampulla setulose (
