Climbing woody shrub; branches densely armed with short, robust, needle-like trichomes; young stems pubescent, with rust-coloured, hyaline hairs, and dome-shaped glands, topped with a few hairs.

subulate, caducous.

bipinnate; pinnae in 10-30 opposite pairs, with a pair of deflexed prickles at the insertion of the pinnae on the leaf rachis and at the insertion of leaflets on the pinnae rachides; leaflets 7-20 pairs per pinna, opposite, glabrous, eglandular.

a terminal or leaf-opposed, lax raceme, with 50 or more flowers.

bisexual, zygomorphic; hypanthium persisting as a wide shallow cup at the pedicel apex as fruit matures; sepals 5, caducous, the lower sepal strongly cucullate; petals 5, free, bright yellow, dark glands present on the blade, median petal smaller than the 4 lateral petals; stamens 10, free, filaments pubescent at least on the lower half; ovary densely pubescent and with glandular dots (often obscured by the dense pubescence).
