, only a single shell was found "stuck on the same slab with

" and originated from the collection of Hugh Cuming. We were unable to locate the holotype in the type collection of the NHM, but found a shell in the general collection labelled "
|
||
<emphasis italics="true" pageId="0" pageNumber="1">Dioryx cochinensis</emphasis>
|
||
G.-A. ms., Cochin China (Cuming)", with a black glue mark on its body whorl indicating that it was previously mounted as indicated in the original description. This specimen is identical with the figures of Godwin-Austen (1914) (characteristic shell shape from apertural view: pl. 156, fig. 7; and the very short tube: pl. 156, fig. 7a). Therefore, we identify this specimen as the holotype of
|

. The measurements provided by Godwin-Austen (1914) are the following: "major diam: 5.5; alt. axis 4.75 mm". Our measurements of the specimen are, however, somewhat larger, namely D: 6.1 mm, H: 7 mm. This is probably due to the inaccuracy of the original measurements (as usual in
|
||

specimens), and we do not question the status of the specimen.
