The 31 species of this genus (

) are typical flower-living thrips, and most are associated with plants of the family
<taxonomicName genus="Fabaceae" lsidName="Fabaceae" pageId="9" pageNumber="36" rank="genus">Fabaceae</taxonomicName>
. They can cause slight damage to the flowers, but only
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Thripidae" genus="Odontothrips" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Odontothrips confusus" order="Thysanoptera" pageId="9" pageNumber="36" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="species" species="confusus">Odontothrips confusus</taxonomicName>
is an important pest (
