Known from Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Ukraine, in both shaded and unshaded habitats with decaying organic matter (ponds, brooks, spring areas, swamps, and water reservoirs) where larvae develop (
