Description: Narrow, uniseriate, unbranched, filamentous alga growing on mangrove bark. Thalli are green, rarely with non-septate rhizoids, up to
<quantity id="4C969B3FFF87FFAEFDF7F8F5FDFEF8AA" box="[513,581,1804,1829]" metricMagnitude="-3" metricUnit="m" metricValue="5.0" pageId="14" pageNumber="245" unit="mm" value="5.0">5 mm</quantity>
long. Apical cells sometimes enlarged and swollen. Cells 22.943.9 μm in diameter, 18.686.4 μm long, with L/D ratios of 0.72.9. Each cell contains 213 nuclei. Spindle- or band-shaped chloroplasts located peripherally in the cytoplasm. Chloroplasts containing 312 pyrenoids. Pyrenoids polypyramidal, each covered with 412 starch plates; 210 thylakoid membranes traverse each pyrenoid. Nuclear-encoded SSU rRNA gene sequence: LC042104; nuclear-encoded LSU rRNA gene partial sequence: LC042102.
