), whose function is unknown. They cannot be used for femoral-abdominal stridulation because the wings cover the hairs. Plus, we never heard stridulation from any of our many collected specimens. Could the hairs be there to hold the pads in place while individuals move inside logs? But then what is the function of the wings?
