The record of this species in the state of Pará represents a range extension of about
<quantity id="4CA17DE01F54E726CD2817A0FB4076A1" box="[1075,1181,1729,1753]" metricMagnitude="3" metricUnit="m" metricValue="2.5" pageId="9" pageNumber="10" unit="km" value="2.5">2,500 km</quantity>
eastwards. This astonishing record, without any known specimen from the intermediate state of Amazonas, led us to consider that it could be a misidentification. Comparison with photographs of the
<typeStatus id="54E26EA71F54E726CA8E1668FC2A7759" box="[917,1015,1801,1825]" pageId="9" pageNumber="10" type="holotype">holotype</typeStatus>
and with the original description by Roubik (2004), however, confirmed that morphologically the specimens from Pará deposited at UFMG are indistinguishable from

. The mesotibial tufts of this species resembles those of

</taxonomicName>
, but general integument coloration and, especially, shape and position of S2 tufts clearly distinguishes both species (see

). The specific epithet “

” was erected since Roubik (2004) considered it to be restricted to the westernmost part of the Amazon Basin. The current record, however, suggests a widespread distribution in the Amazon, but close examination of museum specimens labeled under other
<emphasis id="B92D0C171F57E725CD1B11F8FB4170C8" box="[1024,1180,152,176]" italics="true" pageId="10" pageNumber="11">E. (Glossura)</emphasis>
nomina, besides field work in the regions between the now known disjunct geographic distribution may reveal whether this hypothesis is correct.
