||
Medium sized to moderately large species with body length usually 4.0 to 9.0 mm and fore wing length 3.0 to 6.0 mm.

Mandible with upper tooth usually much longer than lower tooth, or rarely teeth are subequal by length. Clypeus broad, lenticular, flat to weakly convex in lateral view. Malar space 0.1–0.8× as long as basal width of mandible (usually 0.4–0.6×). Flagellum of antenna with 22–44 flagellomeres, rather strongly tapered towards apex to more or less filiform, sometimes slightly clavate. Face with weak to rather strong elongate prominence centrally. Occipital carina complete. Hypostomal carina absent.</paragraph>
