(voucher specimen number AC.3.1.1.4) was harvested during the low spring tides in the inter-monsoon wet period of

from Mandapam (Gulf of Mannar region; between 8̊48 N, 78̊9 E and 9̊14 N, 79̊14 E) on the southeast coastline of the Indian sub-continent (Fig. S41). The samples were identified by a marine algologist Dr. Chellaiah Periyasamy of the Aquaculture Foundation of
<collectingCountry id="F33D11E36C082047174EF946BA74F905" box="[1082,1133,1721,1740]" name="India" pageId="10" pageNumber="11">India</collectingCountry>
, Madurai, and were deposited in the project repository under the accession number of GS. 1.4.2.1. The samples were subjected to repetitive washing with tap water and dehydrated at room temperature for 4 days. Dried leaves of seaweed were powdered (~
<quantity id="4CD2FC966C08204710DAF8D6BDE3F8F5" box="[942,1018,1833,1852]" metricMagnitude="0" metricUnit="kg" metricValue="1.0" pageId="10" pageNumber="11" unit="g" value="1000.0">1000 g</quantity>
) before being extracted with the solvent ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and methanol (MeOH) (1:1, v/v, 750 mL) at 50 ̊C for 3 h under reflux. The extracts were filtered over Whatman No. 1 filter paper using sodium sulfate (~

) and evaporated using a rotary vacuum evaporator (IKA Werke GmbH &amp; Co.,
