Hind margin of preopercle with two spines; dorsal-fin rays 9095; anal-fin rays 7479; pectoral-fin rays 2326; precaudal vertebrae 1213; total vertebrae 5256; pseudobranchial filaments 58; long rakers on anterior gill arch 912; head length 2124% SL; pelvic-fin length 1624% SL, fins not reaching beyond anus; orbit length 4.05.5% SL and 1725% HL; longest gill filament 1.41.9% SL and 6.48.7% HL; dorsal fin with large ocellus placed slightly behind line through anus, the spot distance 4247% SL and spot covers 911 dorsal-fin rays, not extending ventrally onto body; preserved specimens with black ocellus spot; no vertical bars on body; otolith length 5.36.3% SL, sulcus length 4.55.3% SL, and ostium height 1115% sulcus length and 1723% ostium length.
