<paragraph id="6209E392CA087B44EA5F1B42718E94B9" pageId="13" pageNumber="360">Apex of scutellum with anteapical black V-shaped stripe usually reduced to small black spot at lateral margin at anterior end of apical V-shaped callosity (Figs 14-17). However, two examined males (♂ [Figure 18], French Guiana, Camp Caimans, 20.-31.i.2016, NMPC; ♂, French Guiana, Pied Saud, DBTC), have the black V complete. Apical callosity large, branches of the V short, forming ca. one third, less frequently one half, of length, tip of scutellum therefore with rather large triangular callosity (Figs 14-18).</paragraph>

Our revision of the genus

, however, reveals five taxa that are indistinguishable based on coloration, structure of body and pregenital abdomen, vestiture, and morphometric characters (see Table 1). The most promising external character, the development of the black V-shaped anteapical band on the scutellum and its apical V-shaped callosity, might help in identifying specimens of
<taxonomicName id="154F7308265384B2AAE2E1311E8ECF79" lsidName="Rh. grandicallosa" pageId="17" pageNumber="364" rank="subSpecies" species="grandicallosa" subSpecies="grandicallosa">Rh. grandicallosa grandicallosa</taxonomicName>
versus
<taxonomicName id="36CD5E66ED04C0195F9A481ABE6F4EA1" lsidName="Rh. henryi" pageId="17" pageNumber="364" rank="species" species="henryi">Rh. henryi</taxonomicName>
, but we found two males of
<taxonomicName id="B6E33273986559C3514D1B04E928C2D7" lsidName="Rh. g." pageId="17" pageNumber="364" rank="subSpecies" species="g." subSpecies="grandicallosa">Rh. g. grandicallosa</taxonomicName>
from French Guiana with a complete V-shaped band on the scutellum, as in

. This character also varies widely in
<taxonomicName id="2BF1B6CDB8FEEEDA883A4F1A5E580F6E" lsidName="Rh. grandicallosa" pageId="17" pageNumber="364" rank="subSpecies" species="grandicallosa" subSpecies="centroamericana">Rh. grandicallosa centroamericana</taxonomicName>
. The painting by

, shows an apparent black V-shaped band anteapically on the scutellum. The black V-shaped band, however, is not well delimited in recent photographs of the lectotype (see Figure 5), which might be attributed to inaccuracy of the painting or fading of the
<normalizedToken id="C6A35C5E9977A725490C9FB85D7532B7" originalValue="specimens">specimen's</normalizedToken>
coloration during a century of preservation.

The female external genitalia allow

to be distinguished from both subspecies of

and
<taxonomicName id="DD34DB0B46C4723AD501804965DC6A3B" lsidName="Rh. henryi" pageId="17" pageNumber="364" rank="species" species="henryi">Rh. henryi</taxonomicName>
sp. n., but those taxa cannot be reliably separated based on this character (Figs 93 versus 90-92). Also, the internal female genitalia did not provide suitable identification characters. Moreover, the female of
<taxonomicName id="9FDAAECE163467281CDE43B66FCA0D73" lsidName="Rh. wheeleri" pageId="17" pageNumber="364" rank="species" species="wheeleri">Rh. wheeleri</taxonomicName>
sp. n., the taxon probably most closely related to
<taxonomicName id="4EF7D413F5F375E2050C1BD83E891BA7" lsidName="Rh. meinanderi" pageId="17" pageNumber="364" rank="species" species="meinanderi">Rh. meinanderi</taxonomicName>
, remains unknown.

The structure of the male genital capsule and, to a lesser extent, of the phallus thus remain the only reliable characters for identifying species of

. The presence of two sympatric taxa in French Guiana, the type locality of
<taxonomicName id="F20B0382AC933193B45424A20446B5D3" lsidName="Rh. grandicallosa" pageId="17" pageNumber="364" rank="species" species="grandicallosa">Rh. grandicallosa</taxonomicName>
, required reconsideration of the identity of this taxon. Careful examination of the photographs of the lectotype provided by MZHF confirmed that, in the absence of a reliable character allowing identification of female
<taxonomicName id="F659F471B1350F52EFA996366CFAF44F" lsidName="Rh. grandicallosa" pageId="17" pageNumber="364" rank="species" species="grandicallosa">Rh. grandicallosa</taxonomicName>
and
<taxonomicName id="E37ACF77D0A73DC1557A1C4DC7B94DCE" lsidName="Rh. henryi" pageId="17" pageNumber="364" rank="species" species="henryi">Rh. henryi</taxonomicName>
, the lectotype

. We decided to follow Article 75.5 of

by petitioning the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature to suppress the existing non-informative lectotype and replace it with a male neotype. Herein we suggest a suitable male neotype, which is properly documented to fulfill all requirements of Article 75.3 of
