has no apomorphies that adequately define it and that it is closely related to

Dognin, was removed from the genus by Pitkin because it lacks a furca, a process originating near the dorsal margin of the juxta that defines the
<taxonomicName lsidName="" pageId="2" pageNumber="41" rank="tribe" tribe="Ourapterygini">Ourapterygini</taxonomicName>
into which
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Geometridae" genus="Neotherina" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Neotherina" order="Lepidoptera" pageId="2" pageNumber="41" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Neotherina</taxonomicName>
has been placed. Superficially,
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Geometridae" genus="Neotherina" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Neotherina" order="Lepidoptera" pageId="2" pageNumber="41" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Neotherina</taxonomicName>
species are similar to species placed in
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Geometridae" genus="Lambdina" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Lambdina" order="Lepidoptera" pageId="2" pageNumber="41" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Lambdina</taxonomicName>
and
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Geometridae" genus="Nephodia" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Nephodia" order="Lepidoptera" pageId="2" pageNumber="41" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Nephodia</taxonomicName>

), but the monophyly of those genera is uncertain. The monophyly of the

is also questionable, since characters separating the two tribes are based largely on characters of the furca (
