The genus can be readily distinguished from other
<taxonomicName id="2ADCC7FDFFE5FF99FC45342CFBF7706A" authorityName="A.Berlese" authorityYear="1892" box="[1017,1140,1081,1107]" class="Arachnida" family="Laelapidae" kingdom="Animalia" order="Mesostigmata" pageId="1" pageNumber="392" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="family">Laelapidae</taxonomicName>
by the shape of the sternal shield of the female. The shield is strongly desclerotised, except for narrow lateral and anterior ridges, which are fused with endopodal plates I/II and II/III. The pre-sternal platelets are apparently fused with the sternal shield, the epistome projects anteriorly, and the movable digit of the chelicera tapers apically. Caudal seta
<emphasis id="DFA8606CFFE5FF99FB5C34B3FB7D70F9" box="[1248,1278,1190,1216]" italics="true" pageId="1" pageNumber="392">Z5</emphasis>
is longer and thicker than other setae on the dorsal shield; and the anal shield is long and narrow, and flanked by a few pairs of long thick opisthogastric setae. Femora IIIV bear elongate dorsal setae
