This species is very common in inner Makay and absent from peripheral sites. It was most often found in puddles and pools located in stream and river beds, as well as small water holes and springs; shaded or sun-exposed, with bottom of sand and/or sandstone, with or without vegetal debris. These water bodies were most often devoid of vegetation. The water was clear but often more or less heavily loaded with orange masses of iron bacteria. Almost all collection points where this species could be observed were in forested or semi-forested areas and all sites were relatively undisturbed.
