. The genus is diagnosable by the fan of striae in the malar space and the forked knob of the submarginal vein in the fore wing. Förster did not recognize these characters, and instead defined it by the number of clavomeres (3, although the number can actually range from 2 to 4) and what he interpreted as a basal fore wing vein (actually a nebulous and pigmented RS&M vein).
