The species is named in honour of Dr Johann Christian Senckenberg (1707 Frankfurt1772 Frankfurt), name giving founder of the Senckenberg Research Institute, the latter still prospering after 200 years, for his visionary idea to build a museum from citizens for citizens; name in genitive case.
