. The branchiostegal groove appears to run back to the spine and over it, but ceasing at the back of the spine. The spine is open posteriorly, having no suture line between it and the carapace in that region. The migration of the branchiostegal spine from the carapace edge during ontogeny is arrested partly completed and the value of this character for generic assignment is therefore limited. Generic assignment is based principally on the other characters.
