We compared the new species with other
<taxonomicName class="Sordariomycetes" family="Ophiocordycipitaceae" genus="Ophiocordyceps" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Fungi" lsidName="Ophiocordyceps" order="Hypocreales" pageId="0" pageNumber="53" phylum="Ascomycota" rank="genus">Ophiocordyceps</taxonomicName>
species which infect flies (
<taxonomicName lsidName="Insecta" order="Diptera" pageId="0" pageNumber="53" rank="order">Diptera</taxonomicName>
) or are morphologically similar to
<taxonomicName lsidName="O. globiceps" pageId="0" pageNumber="53" rank="species" species="globiceps">O. globiceps</taxonomicName>
(Table 2).

). Molecular data indicate that the new species has 26 bp in nrSSU and 89 bp in nrLSU that are different from

. However,
<taxonomicName class="Sordariomycetes" family="Ophiocordycipitaceae" genus="Ophiocordyceps" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Fungi" lsidName="Ophiocordyceps lacrimoidis" order="Hypocreales" pageId="0" pageNumber="53" phylum="Ascomycota" rank="species" species="lacrimoidis">Ophiocordyceps lacrimoidis</taxonomicName>
is morphologically different from our new species in producing longer stipe, obpyriform, slightly curved perithecia, longer asci and longer part spores.
