This species was based on more than one specimen, from
<normalizedToken originalValue="Theobalds">Theobald's</normalizedToken>
collection but only one set of measurement was given. The original description did not include an illustration but subsequently,

figured three illustrations of this species. There are two shells in the NHM collections purchased from W. Theobald, with an original label stating

, and with the collection locality
<normalizedToken originalValue="“Moulmein”">&quot;Moulmein&quot;</normalizedToken>
. The specimen that most closely matches the measurements given in the original description, and the illustration in Theobald (1870: pl. 1, fig. 3 and pl. 48, fig. 6) is designated as the lectotype.
