</taxonomicName>
has an unusually extensive transcontinental distribution surrounding the Pacific Ocean, occurring from New Zealand subantarctic Islands (Tristan da Cunha), South America (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela), Central America (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama), North America (Mexico) and in Hawaii, eastern Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. As we observed that the morphology of

populations differed between regions, further and more detailed research is necessary for classification. Considering the current evidence, we suggest that
