) and noted that Leach had introduced this generic name “as if it were that of a stranger”, which led him to make the rather implausible suggestion that “the contumely and struggle for existence to which many of his now accepted genera were in their earlier days exposed may explain his reluctance in this instance to do what he thought right.” In order to conform to previous usage (including numerous decisions of the ICZN (e.g. International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature 1956, Direction 37, pp. 57 and 73), Leach is here treated as the sole author of the Crustaceology section in the
