Many males sing from deep crevices and cracks, within vegetated lava flows, where they are almost impossible to catch, even using water for flushing. Fortunately, a good number of juvenile and adult males and females were under lava rocks that were resting on soil, around edges of main lava flow. Walking into the lava field at night, we heard males singing more than 50 meters from lava’s edge on
