This species was described from the State of Durango,

, from one specimen of unspecified sex. One of us (WFB) has long suspected that specimens collected in the
<collectingCountry id="F373DB87317FBD00381EFE5F9C85AF3F" box="[873,925,498,524]" name="United States of America" pageId="6" pageNumber="55">U.S.</collectingCountry>
attributed to this species represent a different taxon. We now consider it to be subspecifically distinct.
