The present genus was created in 1953 with
<taxonomicName id="07BFFA1C0C8BA110307B8A0F997E79C0" class="Arachnida" family="Trhypochthoniidae" genus="Allonothrus" genus.outerRound="1" kingdom="Animalia" order="Sarcoptiformes" pageId="73" pageNumber="74" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="species" species="schuilingi">A. schuilingi</taxonomicName>
as type and single representative. Later (Van der Hammen, 1955a) I studied the development of the type-species and classified it with the
<taxonomicName id="4CB0E7F4C89ADD9E1D3EC9E6DBEAE200" class="Arachnida" family="Trhypochthoniidae" kingdom="Animalia" order="Sarcoptiformes" pageId="73" pageNumber="74" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="family">Trhypochthoniidae</taxonomicName>

(the notogaster is unideficient; phi1 + d of tibia I is long, etc.), but it appears to be related to
<taxonomicName id="79200B5FEBF0D76B5896521673184CA8" class="Arachnida" family="Trhypochthoniidae" genus="Allonothrus" kingdom="Animalia" order="Sarcoptiformes" pageId="73" pageNumber="74" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Allonothrus</taxonomicName>
schuilingi, so that it is preliminary regarded here as a representative of this genus.
