The record of

</taxonomicName>
on the coast of

represents the ®rst for this species since its original description (SaÂnchez-Moyano
<emphasis id="27FEAC47FFF7BD12BD15F93B773AE9FB" box="[819,867,1663,1687]" italics="true" pageId="19" pageNumber="692">et al</emphasis>
., 1995b). Although this species was fully described, we have included complete ®gures because several diOEerences have been found between specimens from southern
<collectingCountry id="6D9D30C5FFF2BD17BD43F9DB77FCE914" box="[869,933,1632,1656]" name="Spain" pageId="22" pageNumber="695">Spain</collectingCountry>
and northern Africa. The general lateral view is very similar. However the mouthparts and abdomen are diOEerent: (1) in specimens collected from
<collectingCountry id="6D9D30C5FFFDBD18BD2AFF3E7716EFF1" box="[780,847,133,157]" name="Spain" pageId="25" pageNumber="698">Ceuta</collectingCountry>
the outer lobe of the maxilliped has four teeth and the inner lobe three, while in the specimens from southern
<collectingCountry id="6D9D30C5FFFDBD18BED1FF7E756EEFB1" box="[247,311,197,221]" name="Spain" pageId="25" pageNumber="698">Spain</collectingCountry>
it has three and two respectively; (2) specimens from
<collectingCountry id="6D9D30C5FFFDBD18BD87FF7E77BCEFB1" box="[929,997,197,221]" name="Spain" pageId="25" pageNumber="698">Ceuta</collectingCountry>
have no plumose seta on the outer lobe of maxilla 1, while this seta, which is rare among species of
<taxonomicName id="D28A0BD6FFFDBD18BF2AFEBE7532EE71" box="[268,363,261,285]" class="Malacostraca" family="Caprellidae" genus="Caprella" kingdom="Animalia" order="Amphipoda" pageId="25" pageNumber="698" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">

; (3) the most remarkable diOEerences are found in the male abdomen; while specimens from

have the ®rst pair of pleopods clearly biarticulate, no distinct articulation was found in the specimens from southern
