. Our specimens agree well with the

colony described and figured in the original report of Thomson and Dean, but it is impossible to make any worthwhile comparisons with the rest of their brief description. The notable difference between the characters of our material and the comparable features reported by those authors is the more prickly warting of the sclerites (as was the case with
<taxonomicName id="4C1F4D6CA44BFFF213B5517B49CEF8AF" box="[1273,1436,1868,1892]" class="Anthozoa" family="Alcyoniidae" genus="Eleutherobia" kingdom="Animalia" order="Alcyonacea" pageId="20" pageNumber="180" phylum="Cnidaria" rank="species" species="somaliensis">

above). Unfortunately, the redescription did not include illustrations of the polyp sclerites, so we asked Dr Leen van Ofwegen to make a comparison using Verseveldt &amp; Bayers microscopic slides of the
<typeStatus id="54A4884DA44BFFF213DB51A248ABF866" box="[1175,1273,1940,1965]" pageId="20" pageNumber="180" type="holotype">holotype</typeStatus>
sclerites of
