Large-sized species. Body robust, entirely black except elytra paler; maxillary and labial palpi brunneous, antennae dark brunneous, with apical segments vaguely paler; legs dark brownish piceous, with tibiae and protarsus covered with brunneous pubescence; pubescence of dorsal side of head and pronotum dark rufous, and that of elytra and abdominal tergites tends to be paler.

<paragraph id="8BEF36A08831FFA31C9AFA7BDE29F82B" blockId="8.[151,1437,1141,2030]" pageId="8" pageNumber="9">Head of rounded quadrangular shape, relatively large and wide, with rounded posterior angles, wider than long (ratio 1.16), slightly narrowed toward basal parts. Eyes small and slightly protruding, considerably shorter than tempora (ratio 0.20) in dorsal view. Punctation and pubescence on dorsal surface of head moderately dense, puncture intervals larger than diameters of punctures; no impunctate midline present. Gular sutures subcontiguous in middle section. Antenna relatively short, segment 3 longer than segment 2 (ratio 1.42), segments 4 to 7 longer than wide, becoming shorter gradually, segments 8–10 about as long as wide, segment 11 longer and slightly wider than segment 10. Pronotum vaguely longer than wide (ratio 1.07), with posterior half slightly wider; narrow marginal groove disappearing downwards at anterior third of pronotal length; impunctate midline distinctly present; punctation and pubescence on disc about same as that on dorsal surface of head. Pronotal hypomeron asetose. Scutellum finely punctate and setose on entire surface. Elytra short, distinctly depressed at base, vaguely dilated posteriad; elytral length shorter than pronotum along midline, with a ratio of 0.61 along suture and a ratio of 0.86 along sides; punctation finer and denser than that on disk of head, combined with very dense microsculpture. Wings markedly reduced to small stumps. Abdominal tergite 2 densely and finely punctate and pubescent; all visible abdominal tergites finely and densely punctate, punctation becoming slightly sparser and coarser toward apex of abdomen; no yellowish tomentose pubescence present on visible tergites 4 and 5.</paragraph>
